just stupid I guess

If I wasn't 87 y/o I could probably figure this out and my 8 y/o neighbors kid has run away.
I came on today (love the limewire) found a song I wanted to put on my mp3 player, got it down loaded and I had my mp3 hooked into my cpu while I was downloading and thought it was going on the mp3 BUT, I cant find it on my player.
The song is sitting in the Library tab. Now how do I get in loaded into the mp3 player..? ?
thanks for any help.

In LW's library click on Saved Files then click Explore...your saved folder will open up for you. Try adding from this folder to your mp3 player (you might be able to just drag & drop):)

thanks a lot I got.
another question. Is there no way to load directly from LW into my mp3 player? I got it loaded by opening the windows media player and draging it into the column to sink....

there may be no way to load from LW directly...

many thanks.

If you mean when a file's downloading, have it download directly into your player...no, not AFAIK. Things will download to your saved folder (to check it's location in LW go tools > options > saving) & you'll have to add to devices from there.

no actually I meant when its downloaded it goes into my library. Can I not get it to load from my Library into my mp3? Hate to sound so dumb but I really am 87..

many thanks.

You could try dragging the file from the LW library into your player...this may or may not work but give it a try.

Or, if you're using WMP, you could add to WMP by monitoring folders. Then, as you download from LW files will be automatically added to WMP & then you could add to your player from there...it would be pretty simple that way.
Within WMP click on Media Library, then click on the Add button, choose 'by monitoring folders'. When you get the popup box, click Add. Now browse your computer & find your saved folder (by default it's C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Shared) & click ok.
Sorry if you already knew how to do this!

Try dragging from the library first, see how it goes.
Let us know if things aren't working:)

my problem is that I have No place to drag it in limewire. I need to get my mp3 "loaded" on there somehow. I can drag it to windows media and get it to work but thats like going to my thumb to get to my elbow..

Plug your mp3 in, then open My Computer. You'll see your mp3 player as a removable disk. Now open LW & go to your library page. Put your cursor on the left hand edge of the page & drag it across to the right...now you should have both the pages visible, beside each other. Now you can drag from the library page into your player (hope I've explained this ok & not made things worse:o).

You can't plug your player in & have it show up in LW.

birdy December 18th, 2006 04:03 PM

Some people seem to be able to drag songs from their LW library into their players & have no problems. Others have to have to add from their shared folder, rather than LW's library. But once you've got your My Computer page open, you can open your saved folder, minimise it (click on the little icon with 2 pages together in the top right corner, next to the close page icon) & that way you'll have both pages open for dragging into your player.

mr grumpy December 18th, 2006 04:16 PM

I'm trying that right now but LW is telling me "need more sources" or Waiting on host".

your my puter trick worked now I'm just trying to get them downloaded so I can try the drag and see if it works. I really appreciate your patience and help.I'll let you know as soon as I get the downloaded. I guess the server is just busy.

Try a new search. There's no central server, you're downloading from other peoples' computers, so sometimes a new search can bring up new results (as some people shut their LW down, other people log on & so the files available are constantly changing).

thanks a lot

I opened my computer like you said, found the mp3 player. It will not let me drag and drop into it. I tried mp3 files and wma files and neither worked, however I can do the same thing by opening my windows media player and draging the songs into the "sync" block. So either way you have solved my problem.
again I really appreciate your help and just to make you feel better I hate these dang things but they have become a necessary evil. Sorta like cell phones.
Later,

mr. g
must be late, my spelling was awful.

Glad you worked it out. Hope I didn't confuse you too much (it was too early in the morning here:o).

Just a tip...an easy way to get hold of that saved folder (where LW's downloads are saved) is to make a shortcut to your desktop. All you have to do is go to LW's library > click on Saved Files > click Explore...folder opens.

Now, once the folder's open, click on the little folders icon (up the top, next to search). Then on the left hand side, you'll see a list of folders & the one you have open will be highlighted. Right click on that highlighted folder & choose 'send to' & then choose 'desktop (create shortcut).

Then you have all your saved songs easily available...whether LW's open or not.
