Try the fixes in this thread....
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Try deleting the preference folder first and if that doesn't work do the Java...

Your modem/router is the box that your internet connection runs through...

Ahhh hang on, your on dial up...Does your computer have a built in 56k modem ????

You can check this by going to Control panel > printers and other hardware > phone and modem options....

dolimite March 20th, 2007 05:47 PM

it says i have a softv92 data fax modem with smartcp

Try right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and change the compatability setting to Windows 2000. This is our last hope....Good luck..

nope it did not work do you think bearshare and piolet could be inter fering or something if i uninstall bearshare do you think that could get it to work

wondering why March 24th, 2007 01:55 AM

Do those apps work, can you connect ok with them ?? You shouldn't have to uninstall them, just don't run them at the same time as running limewire...

Can you go to add/remove programs and tell me what version of Java you are using ??

wondering why March 24th, 2007 02:13 AM

I actually just went back and read a previous thread of yours and found the fact you can't connect to bearshare either...

As Aaron suggested your AOL security could have alot to do with this as well...
