Default Keeping Limewire Downloads after a format

I looked around for a possible answer to my dilemma, but apparently unable to find one, I'm going to ask my question here.

My computer is in dire need of reformatting and having Windows XP re-installed, but I've still got a ton of stuff partially downloaded from Limewire stored on my E: drive (which is where I set Limewire to store files as it downloads them) and previously, this has meant I had to lose all of that material when I formatted the C: drive and start the long slow process of finding and downloading everything again.

Is there a way to wipe my machine (just the C: drive, leaving the partial files on E: intact) and then reinstall Limewire so that it picks up my old partial downloads and carries on with them as if nothing had happened?

I've been stumped because when I've tried this before, Limewire simply appeared to go "Okay, we'll use this folder on E that you've selected, but hey lets just ignore all this stuff already in it."

Thanks
