YELDARB is flying high
Angry Should it be this hard!! (connecting)

Hello everyone. Be gentle this is my first post. Please help. Paid for my Limewire today & so far have spent 6 hours trying to get it to work.
I have no connection & the dreaded firewall.
LimeWire 4.10.2
Java 1.6.0_01
Windows XP
Internet Explorer
1gb of RAM
Plenty of HDD space
Norton Anti-virus
Windows firewall turned off
Speedstream 6520 Gateway modem/router
ISP Adam Internet (Aus)
ADSL2 Broadband

I am also showing 2 Limewire icons in the tray

Please help. I have been progressing thru the F.A.Q. but nothing seems to work so far.

Ok firstly open up your task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and click on the process tab and look for the limewire exe and select the end now...You will probably see 2...

Then go to add/remove programs and uninstall Java, then download and re-install the JRE 5.11 using the offline installer (4th one down)....
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

Once you have done that you will need to Port Forward as your modem/router has a Nat Firewall...
Here are your instructions...
Port Forwarding for the Siemens Speedstream-6520

Let me know how you get on...

Default Thankyou "wondering why"!!

Thanks for your help. By changing my router settings I can now download. One more question please. I still have the Firewall infront of the globe but I can download. Do I need to sort this out as well?

It should of disappeared when you Port Forwarded..
Do you have any other firewalls ??

When I started out I also had a wall in front of the globe and I downloaded just fine, the only problem was I couldn't upload or direct connect...

Do you see any peers in the monitor window downloading from you ??

firewall in windows says it allows limewire pro but the brickwall is still
in front of the globe. Internet service is broadband through Inetsouth or
Maxium Access...that is the best i can do for info about my computer.
please help if possible if not i will get my sister in law to send more info please let me know....

With the modem/router details..it's the box that connects you to the internet, if you turn it upside down it will tell you the name and model number of it...This is a really important factor with firewalls and some ISP's wouldn't even know if they had a Nat Firewall or not...

Click on the link in Q.10 and tell us what the test page says...

With the version of limewire and Java you are using follow these steps, it will tell you what they are...
(Go to limewire's menu then select Help > About limewire...)
