LimeWire Basic Refuses to download and i]nstall

:bangh: I used to have Limewire Basic and it ran with no trouble. Suddenly, when I went to use it, it refused to open. I went in, deleted the songs I had saved on computer, uninstalled LimeWire, went into Windows Explorer to look for any other sections of LimeWire that would not remove with the installation and deleted most of those. Some would not delete at all. I then turned my firewire off and tried to download LimeWire Basic again from the LimeWire website and again, when I clicked on the icon on my desktop, it would not open. It keeps telling me I have a missing file, no matter how many times I uninstall and then download again. Should I uninstall Java 6 and just use Java 5? I am using Windows XP. I really like the website and hate not having it. Please, someone help a person who is not very technical. :bangh:

You uninstalled Limewire the wrong way...
Try Start > All Programs > Limewire/uninstaller...
If it is not there or that option has been removed try doing a Computer search, look for things like limewire.exe and limewire and delete anything that shows up in the results...

Then when you have cleaned all of that up do the following...

Uninstall your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then install limewire using the offline installer...

Thanks! I have LimeWire back and feel much better. :xirokrotima: Now, stupid Java gives me notice that I need to download Java 6. I have a feeling that Java and I are going to be playing games. Every time you restart the computer, you get this message. I don't feel like re-installing Java 6, finding that LimeWire doesn't work, again and then uninstalling Java - again, in a never ending merry-go-round. A right click on the notice does not give me an option to Do Not Download, just download now or download later.

Thanks so much. That's easy enough for me to figure out, since I am a none techie.
