I'm having the same problem. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Java using the link on limewire.com's FAQ. I've uninstalled my video drivers (and done well with Driver Cleaner Pro) and reinstalled with the newest drivers. I've deleted the preferences folder as the instructions said, emptied the recycling bin, still nothing. I even restarted Windows, deleted the preferences folder again, and tried opening Limewire with the same 12% loading error.

Limewire use to work fine on my computer (probably an older version) but ever since I reinstalled Windows a few weeks ago I've been having this problem. Here's the info you requested:

1. Windows XP Pro (32 bit)
2. No antivirus software, just Windows Firewall
3. 2x1GB DDR2 800
4. ~200GB on C drive, ~400GB storage on secondary drive
5. 8 mb/sec cable internet
6. Modem: LinkSys BEFCMU10, Router: D-Link DI604
7. House
8. Limewire 4.14.7, Java 6 Update 2
9. Comcast Cable
10. Said "Your test worked"
11. Sharing internet with 2 roommates, all wired to router. I don't use any other P2P. I don't think they use P2P, but if they do, they were using it when Limewire use to work on my computer anyway.
12. I'm an experienced user, but ever since I reformatted my HD and reinstalled Limewire on a now fresh system it has had this problem.
13. Can't get into LW so no lol.
14. I have no idea, how do I check?
15. No antivirus, just Windows firewall
16. USA

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I'm not 100% sure when I downloaded this after reinstalling Windows. It might have been days later, so maybe it would in fact work on a fresh reinstallation of Windows (don't want to do that again). But I am positive that no other version of LW was installed when I downloaded this one, and it hasn't worked at all.

Try these fixes in this order and see if it helps...

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...Again
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should
