Please hlp....(uninstalling and re-installing Limewire)

ok, so I installed limewire, and it worked fine for 2 days. It then began to give me problems (wouldn't start when I clicked on it, once the user interface appeared I couldn't access any of the controls, etc..) so I decided to uninstall it, and download it again. One problem. The uninstaller didn't get everything. I still have the LimeWire folder with a corrupted version of the application, and the lib subfolder in it. Not only that, but when I go to download from the site again, it says "An older version of LimeWire appears to be running. blah blah blah" and it says it may be in the system tray, which it is. It says to ssimply right click and select Exit. It won't let me do that. When I right-click, the drop-down never appears....sooo, I'm stuck with a corrupt LimeWire, and am bewildered as to how I can get rid of the old one and download it again. I have tried deleting, uninstalling, everything...any thoughts??

If it says that there is still an instance of LW running, you should open your Task Manager (ctrl&alt + delete one time) and then go to Processes and look for the limewire.exe process. If it's there, force it to end...

By the way, if you removed LW using the Add/Remove function of the control panel....well,.....bad mistake.....

If you still can't get rid of the old version you have to do some more work.

Go START>Search for Files And Folders and look first for the folder " .limewire " (yep that dot needs to be in front of that word) and then " LimeWire " including also the hidden folders into your search. If you find one or both on your system, delete them.

Next go to START>Run and type " regedit " and there you search for " limewire " and delete any entry you find.

Then restart your computer.

Afterwards uninstall all Java version of your system, download the newest version from Sun Micro (using the JRE offline installer):

Java Technology

Install it and reboot again. Then install the newest version of LW using the offline installer downloaded from here:

Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent «
