Limewire Wont Start

So, I just got limewire. So I'm loading.. all seems good... Will you update to pro? Maybe later...

What? It just crashed? What the hell?

So, I load it again. Same thing.

I've got the newest version of regular limewire, and I've got the latest version of java. Xp Service Pack 2. Any help here on this?

Some people have had trouble with the latest Java. Try this version instead. Download the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) offline installer. Go to Add/Remove Programs & remove any other Java versions before you install this one.

Don't even think about buying Pro until you've used LW basic for a while & are happy with things;)

I've used limewire on other computers, but I just got this one as a new computer. I'd be satisfied with pro, except that I dont have a credit card or steady job.

And now its working. Turned out that I had an earlier version of Java installed, and that might have been my trouble child.

Its doing it again, and I'm sure that I've got the best version of Java because I just updated.... Help?

darkmaster1055,

What version of Java are you using now? Did you ever try the Java version that I linked to, in my first post?

donron,

First thing to try is deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.

If that's no help, try using Java version 1.5.0_11, there's a link for download in my first post.
