Default Limewire is not showing on my Add/Remove Hardware

Hi! I'm having a very sticky problem with Limewire right now. I had just gotten my internet switched to another internet company, and they gave me a CD which had a free Norton Security 2007 in it. I installed it and clicked on the necessary items. The day after, I tried opening Limewire and I kept getting an error message. Because of that, I went on my Add/Remove Hardware program to look for Limewire. To my shock, Limewire was not on it, even though I could clearly see the Limewire icon on my desktop. I could clicked on it, and still kept getting the error message. So then after I downloaded the installation file again, and while it was downloading, it says that I have an error in my installation file and would not continue! I'm going out of my mind trying to get rid of Limewire on my computer! It's one of my favourite programs and I can't find any other music programs that could compare to it. Hopefully some of y'all would kindly help me out to resolve this. I just want to know how to take off Limewire on my system even though it's not showing on my Add/Remove Hardware program.

Oh, and here's an image of the error message I keep on getting. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ewireerror.png

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I'm glad you didn't see it in your add/remove programs as if you did that's the wrong way to uninstall limewire...
The correct way is to go to Start > All Programs > Limewire/Uninstaller...

Try these fixes to get your Limewire back up and running...
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should
LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

Also you may have to configure Norton and Lime, these are the instructions to do so....

Thank you very much for the tips! As of right now I'm gonna try downloading the installation file. However, on the Start button with the All Programs, I moused over Limewire and it doesn't have the Uninstall on it, just Limewire. I don't know where else to uninstall it if the other tips doesn't work...

So I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java, deleting the Preferences folder, and yet nothing. I couldn't find a way to uninstall Limewire. There's no Uninstall link in the Limewire button at the Start menu and I kept getting the error message everytime I try to start Limewire. Is there any other way to get rid of Limewire?

I'll post up the error message again, see if anyone's familiar with this. Thank you very mcuh for all your help!

Problem solved! I don't know why it worked this time, but I downloaded the Limewire installation file again (Version 4.14) and now my Limewire's working fine without the need to uninstall it. Last time when I did the same thing the program had sent me an error message about missing some critical files... :S But now it didn't send me anything. Yay! Now I'll try opening Limewire tomorrow again and see if it works, but as of right now, my Limewire is working! Thank you Lord!

THANK YOU Peerless and Wondering Why for your help! I really appreciated it!

wow...and here I was about to suggest reinstall and decided to just say try phex...

many times the amount of effort put into solving a problem like this is easier dealt with by just trying something else...or doing a complete reformat and clean install of the OS and all programs..

glad to hear you go your setch rectified.
