Default can't get past firewall page

i have windows xp with trendmicro. i install limewire and when it gets to the page saying you may need to allow it in yr firewall it just freezes. i've checked my java version (6) and have uninstalled and reinstalled. still the same thing. any ideas?

Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11


Then install limewire using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link...

i've done that and it did nothing. still freezes when it gets to the firewall setup page.

here was the fix though
Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatibility setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version.

that got it to finish intalling but now closes as soon as it opens in my icon tray.

well, i removed the compatibility setting and now it is all running fine. yay!!
