I have Limewire Ppro on my Old PC. Have newer PC whenI go to download pro Limewire does not accept any of my email addresses. But if I go to my Old PC I am able to use Pro. Now if its the case of 1 Limewire Purchase Per machine I understand. But what if I am selling older machine which will not have limewire when sold?

So How do I get LimeWire Pro on this machine since it has been purchased?

windows XP
Mcafee Firewall no restrictions (YET) until this i s solved

Thank you,
Doc

If your purchase was longer than 6 months ago your subscription would of ran out, meaning you will have to re-purchse Pro to get the new update...

You can use Pro versions for as long as you like, you just can't update to newer versions or get the tech support..

So the best thing to do is save the Pro installer you have either to disc or external hard drive and load it onto your new comp that way...;)

I am having the same problem and what a rip off, lime wire CLEARLY says on there web page that you will NEVER have to pay again once you purchase pro. I am so angry, shame on misleading info :nono: sadly I have recommended limewire to SO many people and now wish I had not.

reloading pro

Hi,

I've had the pro installed on my computer, but due to a virus, it is no longer, i've kept my receipt and downloading instructions. But when I attempt to redownload and it asks for my email address that I had used to originally download it, it comes back as never having said email address on file. And I refuse to pay for something that I have already paid for, for which I have stated that I have a reciept for. IF someone in the management area or whatever can do something I would appreciate it, as I can't even get into the help cause it wants the email addy, grrrrrrrrrr

thanks

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 05:44 PM

how about someone who has/had pro on a computer which than ended up with a virus, and therefore was wiped clean, and when attempting to reinstall, won't accept my email address?????? Talk about friggin unfair

it's ridiculous

did you get it from this web site Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « because that usually happens with scam sites:eek:

birdy September 28th, 2007 05:53 PM

We don't work for LW, we're volunteers;)

How long ago did you buy Pro, who did you pay & how much did you pay? Up until recently, Pro entitled the purchaser to 6 months worth of free updates & email support. They've just introduced a 1 year deal as well.

Unless you bought Pro from the official site & your Pro is still current (ie within the stated time period for updates & support), your email address won't be in the database.

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 05:54 PM

no I originally got it from the LimeWire site if i have to I will email a copy of my reciept for proof of purchase

michwayne September 28th, 2007 05:57 PM

you did not get it from the site that I got there on the link.

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 05:58 PM

It was bought from the official site, the date of the email receipt that I have is Nov. 05, but there should be available somewhere a version that I can be able to redownload. Barring that maybe they should send out an actual disc with purchase to prevent cases like this

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 06:01 PM

When I purchased pro , it was back in nov of 05, it was from the official site. I have my email reciept as proof of purchase.

michwayne September 28th, 2007 06:08 PM

squrity I'm not being rude but that doesnt answer my question did you check my link out because that's the only official LW web site again not being rude?

birdy September 28th, 2007 06:15 PM

If you bought in Nov '05 then your Pro's way out of date & your email address will be long gone from the database.

I think there should be something included in the Pro info to let users know that they should save & back up their Pro installers. It's been suggested, but so far nothing's been done about it.

In your case, you've either got the choice of downloading the free version or buying Pro again. Sorry, but that's it:(

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 06:24 PM

Yes I have checked it out, and honestly I don't know, the front page might have changed a bit since then, as it was in 2005 that I originally dl'd, and not having to go back to the site since then. All I know is that the receipt says Lime Wire LLC and it has links to customer@limewire.com and [EMAIL="sales@limewire.com"******s@limewire.com[/EMAIL]

squirty101 September 28th, 2007 06:27 PM

thx for your input birdy, i appreciate it :)

ya like birdy said in the other post your subscription ran out not much you can do but take his advice if you get it again do what he said with making a back up copy of the installer seems as long as people don't hit the new up date available tab or have to install LW pro or reformat the HD you can have LW pro for a long time.

LadyAthena September 28th, 2007 10:16 PM

I have a similar problem as I had to reformat my hard drive. What do I do?

When did you buy Pro, where did you buy it from & how much did you pay? Read through this whole thread please, then you'll get some idea of why we need to know this.

michwayne September 28th, 2007 10:30 PM

like wondering why said in the beginning of this thread there's not much you can do if your subscription has run out and you don't have a copy of the LW pro installer you'll have to eather pay for pro again or get basic.

Macchiavelli September 29th, 2007 08:48 AM

My subscripion HAS NOT run out. That is a big part of the problem not the solution. No harm intended, But that is the question I,v been asked over and over and I belive I made myself clear in my post. But thankyou for your concern. I have also posted a thread on lime wire in the hang out room. Peace

Vukodlac September 29th, 2007 11:06 PM

Been using limewire pro for about a year and a half now. Limewire asked to me update the program to version 4.14. The program updated to Limewire basic and prompted me if I wanted to go PRO...

Guess I shot myself in the foot because I could of kept my older PRO version, now I'm stuck with basic and have to purchase PRO again. LimeWire has no record of my email address...how nice is that?

Whatever, my bad for updating...:bangh::mad2:

inga2go October 3rd, 2007 10:41 AM

I had a similar problem, as I feel that if it says you never have to purchase again,(one-time fee) you shouldn't have to if you are a registered user. But, it seems like they aren't trying to help so, looks like I have to purchase again, and keep updating

dianac October 3rd, 2007 10:53 AM

same thing done to me

Don't feel bad guys I did the same thing bought pro in 6/2006 and updated to the new version and lost pro and my email doesn't exist i guess that is how they make there money i wasn't really impressed with pro when i got it anyway how about the two of you did you like or see a difference when you went PRO I'm not sure if I want to purchase pro again for $35.00 plus the 35 will give you a one year techincal and updates but after that you don't exist again so when they say you don't have to purchase again it is true but you don;t get to get anything slse but that version unless you get lucky and they updte it within the time period of 6 months to a year depending on what you purchase at the time. :shoot:

Don't purchase it again, as you will find it is never a one time fee...
Pro is for 6 or 12 months and then you have to re-purchase...
Try basic for awhile and if you don't see any difference between that and Pro, just stick with the freebie...;)

Just a little hint, you get better tech support here....

midnightdj October 4th, 2007 11:26 AM

The people at LimeWire are a bunch of scumbags quite frankly! Yes, I guess when I bought it they said you get 6 months of free updates, but I had forgotten. When they themselves urged me to download the latest version, there was NOTHING to indicate to me again that I would lose my PRO privileges...Strictly legal I guess, but s****y customer relations...

Too bad LimeWire is one of the few free file sharers left or I'd drop them in a heartbeat...I despise tricksters like them!
