Gnutella Forum Virgin...please help! (installation problem)

Hello everyone. I'm having a problem installing Limewire properly. I've installed and uninstalled previously whilst 'playing' with my computer...new to me too. Now i'm trying to reinstall Limewire but it keeps installing into its own Library. I've tried making a folder and installing there which kind of works but it's still leaving 'magnet 10' in the library! Can anyone provide the proper directions needed for me to install properly, thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by "installing into it's own library"...LW should install to C:\Program Files\LimeWire\

Anyway, try this: Uninstall LW via start > all programs > limewire > use the uninstall option (don't uninstall via add/remove programs). Now use your computer's search to look for all files & folders with limewire in the name. Delete what you find. If you've ever changed LW's location for saving files (downloads) then make sure that you haven't put the saved folder within program files!! Otherwise, you'll lose your downloads.

Reinstall LW & make sure to use the offline installer. When you click to download LW, cancel the dialog box which pops up. Then use the option to download the offline installer.

Installation

:Smilywais: Hi there. Thanks for the response. I always use the uninstall feature within the program itself which you recommended but thanks anyway for that. As for the installation itself, I tried numerous occasions to download and install into C:\Program Files\LimeWire\ but whenever I am actually on the site itself, all the program files (magnet 10, dll etc) are listed in the librarys screen, doh. I can't understand why as when I initially ran the program it was perfect. The tip on using the offline installer is most welcome, wasn't aware of that one. So, i'll give it another go now and see if I can't get it right. Thanks for taking the time out to help me, most appreciated :aweof:
