Help please--only opens to 12%

Hi all,
thanks in advancer. I saw one person that had a similar problem. I hacved had all v ersions of limewire for 4 years now. got a new puter./ hp w/ vista. downloaded lime it worked. I uninstalled to install the beta. the beta installed ok. however when it went to run (green limewire square) it stopped at 12% and gave me a window showing my saved folders. it had a second page but no escape except to x out. i have tried everything 10 more dl's. differebnt versians. cleaning cache's, temp files, ridding hidden files, etc. etc.
can u shed some light?? it's getting pretty dark!!

Gosh, a slightly old question... Haven't seen this one for a few months (after having it as the flavour of the month before !!!)

thank you so much for responding. i tried all your suggestions and more. deleted prefetch's, tried another download site. got rid of zipped folders. non internet installer, hidden files, etc.
now what happens is when i go to install the application, it gives me a message saying that an older version of lime wire is running and i have to exit before it will install! there is nothing running i assure you. task manager verifies it. no icons on the task bar, etc.if i choose ignore it goes back to the 12% and the wind ow about saved file folder.
should i give it up???
