limewire had over 6000 shared files when i turned it on today and they werent mine

Started up my limewire and then i saw my limewire shared file increasing. first it was at 2300 then it jumped up to 6400. It was increasing until i shut it off any ideas? By the way I am new to the forum and have been using limewire successfully for over a year until now. thanks

You have a virus. Scan your computer.

I ran my antivirus program after updating it and also ran my spyware dr program which found alot of stuff but it still didnt fix the problem. I also did a search on this virus on google and found some other people with the same problem but couldnt find a fix.

description of what limewire is doing.
1. it is saying i have thousands of share files
2. it is not saving my downloaded files to the usual location it is hiding them and i can only find them by doing a search for the file and even then it dosent give the location.
3. Other people are downloading these files that arent mine so I am not currently running limewire right now.

Thanks

What Antivirus are you using? Try d/loading AVG free(click on link) update it and do a scan, then follow the prompts.

You could try Windows Live OneCare safety scanner: Free online tool for PC health and safety. I've used it before and it's pretty thorough, but it may take a couple hours.

If you do try it, you'll need to use your "Internet Explorer" browser, and do the "Full Service Scan".

Here's a couple related threads:
