I tried to install the regular version and could not get connected so I treid the Beta version and at first I got an error that said : COntact vendor and verify that c:\\windows\temp\_isE171\limewire2.2.1.msi is a valid window installer package. Now after trying to install this version yet again I get a 1628 error. What the heck is going on?

well, i got it

I don't know if this will work for any of you, but I finally got Limewire installed...

I deleted everything I could find of Limewire on my system. I downloaded the Java runtime and installed it by itself instead of through the Limewire installer, because that's what messed me up the first time. then I downloaded a fresh copy of the newest Limewire and finally it installed fine. Although to be able to delete my old one i had to do ctrl-alt-dlt to see that the installed hadn't closed yet...

don't know if this will help, i tried though...

I was having the exact same problems with the newest version. So here is what I did, hopefully it will work for you guys as well:

go to download.com and search for "limewire". It will give several results. Pick Limewire version 3.5.7 (international) and download and install.

Hope it helps.

You wont belive, but i have the same problem in 3.6.15

Running system:
WinXP + SP1

Something is seriously worng with the setup packet.

Whats wrong here!? Forums are practically dead and per user support is only for PRO users. I can't even install the damn thing!?!?!?!? And im not the only one?!

Why don't you use InnoSetup or NSIS installer and not this InstallShield crap that works only when it desires to work? InstallShield is too dependent of other system components if you dont use it right. Those two installers are very powerful and they work perfectly anywhere. Customization is on very high level too. And since LimeWire is free (at least basic version),i dont see any problem why dont you use it.
