installing/uninstall problem

i was using limewire one day, and then the next it just stopped opening.
it said that there were some links missing and so to re-install limewire.
i have tried to do this, but when i do, i get a message that says:
"Limewire cannot create uninstall information. Instillation will now exit. Restarting the computer can often fix this"
well i've restarted the computer several times and tried to manually uninstall it but i cant find it under add/remove programs.

I work on a joint computer and Limewire works on all of the other files, just not mine.

please help?

The normal way to uninstall LW is via the Start menu > All Programs > LW > Uninstall.
Else, there will be an uninstall program within the LW program folder.

Tell us if you are able to uninstall that way still?

tried that.

that doesn't work either,
it was the first thing that i tried.

there is now NO uninstall link when attempting to use that method :(

thanks for your help though,:freak:

Use this program Crap Cleaner

It might be wise to Delete LW's preferences folder; step 2 or 3 here Fixes for Limewire (click on blue link)

Then try reinstalling LW using http://www9.limewire.com/download/LimeWireWin-full.exe

okay ive just tried that and it said:

"cannot delete .limewire: access denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use"

oh ill never win :(

thank you for your help though

the worst!

I would generally avoid the topic of Windows trouble shooting, but this one is intriguing, especially for a self-trained lucky phreaker.

There is only one Excellent anti-spyware application that can help you with this and all of your other 'dumb' Windows problems. It's called Spyware Terminator, is open-source, and may well become your primary anti-virus Ap in a matter of less than an hour. [Google that, and only trust the page with their logo containing the White Cross on the Blue shield.]

What it will do is find every --orphaned-- component of some illicit Windows crap, and puts it into a list so you can decide to delete it or not. They also bundle another Ap, a sort of 'Web Watcher,' that notifies you about all the evil cookies that are trying to load wherever you surf.
