Unhappy Can't Install LimeWire

I've tried installing LimeWire on 3 different PC's in my house and can't get it to install. I've even tried running it from the site itself and get the same error message on all machines. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

Please Help

Does the installer itself download without a problem?

Does the installation stop at a particular page (& give you the error) or do you see the error when you first double click on the installer?

Which OS are you using? If Vista, do you have an administrator account? If you have Vista but not an admin account, try right clicking on the installer > run as administrator.

Are you downloading LW from this site? Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If you've ever had LW installed before, try the advice here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...tml#post320995

If you've never had LW installed before, do the above but don't worry about steps 2 & 5

Hey Birdy thanks for the quick response.

I'm running WXP and on this particular machine and never previously installed LimeWire. The message pops up right when I double click on the installer and click run. I installed the latest version of Java and downloaded the cleaner but this machine has a clean install and doesn't have any crap or spyware on it. I am downloading from the LimeWire site and tried everything you mentioned and still can't get it to install. Same error message.

Please advise.

Does your XP account have administrator privileges (control panel > user accounts > you'll see there whether your account is a Computer Administrator)?

Did you try running in compatibility mode for both Win 2000 & NT?

I spoke a little too soon yesterday. I rebooted my machine after I installed the latest Java and ran the crap cleaner and was able to successfully install it. Problem now is when I try to launch LimeWire, I get the same error message. I'm doing all of this logged in as administrator. Pretty Weird
