Limewire freezes on startup

I am getting so frustrated. I have used LW in the past and never had issues. I upgraded to the new LW and I can't use it. I have tried every post on this site.

My issue is that after downloading LW and Java (both offline versions), Java first, restart, then LW, also removed application data.... When I start LW a screen comes up that says some legal stuff, the buttons are all there (next, etc.) but when I go to push them nothing happens. LW will not open. I have even tried changing the compatibility to windows 2000 and NT. I have tried all of these multiple times!!!

My system is Windows XP SP 3, LW version 5.2.13, Java version 6.16.

Please help. Let me know if you need any information.

Try setting up a Test account, see if LW will open within it. If yes, then the issue is something to do with your main account. Setting up a new account is not difficult & not difficult to later remove via control panel.

Which version of LW were you using before this one?
I guess you have tried setting LW to run as admin?
Which security programs do you have on your computer. You may need to manually add LW to your firewall exceptions, removing the older one. Not that this should necessarily apply to your problem, but same might apply to other security software.

I'm not sure which version I was using before. I haven't used it in a while. Yes I tried starting as admin and still nothing. I have AVG and I have tried turing it off, still nothing. I don't use AVG firewall. I only use the regular Windows Firewall. It is listed as an exception. Still nothing. I also tried frostwire with no such luck. Same issues.

I am not sure what you mean by test account. I will try it if you let me know how to do it. Thank you.

Lord/Rings...I can't download LW on Macbook 10.4.11
 

New to Apple...given this unit. New LW needs newer OS than mine. When I go to OLDAPPS, I go very deep, LW 4.10, and it still says my OSx 10.4.11 is too old. What is best way to get LW downloaded?

Processor 2GHz 2 Duo
Memory 1 GB667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Also, no matter what I do to find a "New Post" button, despite following the "New Thread" insructions. Where is the button? Thx
