Limewire will not open regardless of Java version. HELP!

Hi guys, I'm a newbie and I've read through this thread intently and implimented all advice to no avail. I'm suffering with the same problem (or similar) and come to a dead end.

Here is my P.C. Spec:

Windows XP Media Center Edition
cache memory 2 x 2 MB
Intel Pentium D 945 Processor with a rate of 3.4 GHz
RAM: 2 Gb DDR400
HDD: 320 Gb SATAII (7200 rpm)
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1300 - 256 Mb
Built-in analogue / digital Tuner
Optical Disk Reader: Double layer compatible DVD writer
USB: 6 ports USB 2.0 (2 in front)
Modem/Ethernet Port: Built-in 56K V92 ModemBuilt-in LAN
i-Link: 2 ports FireWire IEEE1394 (including 1 in front)
TV Outlet: S-Video output
WLAN: MSI WIFI MS-6834B Turbo Mode - 802.11 b/g

...... and I'm trying to initiate Limewire 5.4.6.

My story is as follows: Initially I was using Frostwire with no problems when I downloaded a virus which shut down my security software, I got rid of the virus and replaced my security software with AVG Anti Virus Plus Firewall.
The next time I initiated Frostwire it wouldn't open, I then uninstalled and re-installed to no avail, then changed to Limewire 5.4.6. only for the problem to continue with Limewire. Tried everything suggested, I've run 'Hijackthis' incase I missed something but no, antivirus picks nothing up either... Java has been uninstalled followed by Limewire, system reset. Java (6) then re-installed, followed by Limewire...... and still nothing. Java uninstalled again, Limewire uninstalled, system restarted and this time I installed Limewire only, letting the installer choose the correct Java version and still nada! Who's mother did I hack to death in a previous life to deserve such shite? aaaaaargh!

Anyhoo, all suggestions are welcome.
Failing that, does anybody have a gun?

P.S. I have created the necessary exceptions through my firewall too.

I have the gun...but you can only borrow it if you're going to shoot the computer!

look....since you got a nasty virus it might be wise to bite the bullet and back up all of your important data then do a reformat and clean install of the OS...I do this at least yearly just because I feel better about it all...sure, its kind of a PITA, but after you've done it as many times as I have its a fairly simple (though time consuming) process...I bet you a dollar to your dime that after a clean install LW will work just fine

Limewire Unable to Load...Me Too!!

I also am getting the message "Limewire Unable to Load". I am running Windows Vista and did a system restore yesterday back to 2 days ago. Once it was done i started getting the error. i have uninstalled Limewire, reinstalled, did all the stuff in the troubleshooting section with no luck. Something is wrong if we are all getting this error.

Hi:

Did you uninstall ALL versions of Java and then reinstall the latest version for your computer?

Done. Problem solved. Thanks for your help.

Marcos Albuquerque
