Refresh option

I'm constantly changing my share files and was curious if a refresh button could be added for my share list to keep it updated for fellow downloaders

not sure what you mean, xolox automatically shares anything that is in the folders you have selected to share plus the ones that you are downloading into. so ineffect it automatically refreshes your shares. if you mean you are adding new folders then you just add them in tools>preferences etc

XoloX shares the files you download even before they are completed ( shares them as partials). So you don't have to worry about that. XoloX does this to ensure people share :)

Kinda

What I meant to say is that Xolox crashes on me if I delete a shared file and minutes later someone tries to download it because it showed up on their search list. I was thinking a refresh option would clear it up. I've noticed it refreshes whats being shared every now and then but I wanted to do it manually because I'm continuously changing what I share.

For example. I use two cd drives as well to share things and every now and then I change the cds. After I put in a new cd I'd like to refresh the share list so it would remove the list of files I'm no longer sharing and add what I just added. Does that make sense?

I understand what you are saying Wolf. You are just looking out for others because you don't want them trying to get a download that you have removed from your computer. I appreciate that. Wish there were more users like you around who cared enough about others trying to download files. Maybe I would not need that stick I requested.

i find same problem, but long-lasting

if i've downloaded something, then remove it from my drive, i still see that file pop up momentarily in the 'uploads' window, even weeks after the file is gone. don't know if this happens with files i already had before installing xolox, or if it's specific to files i've downloaded with xolox.

i also wonder if this type of thing artificially inflates your hit scores - you get 10 hits for a song, but end up with 'Searching, 3 busy, 0 buffer'. maybe the other 7 hits were 'falsies' (or maybe i'm missing the point). anyway, some kind of manual refresh to clean this up would probably help the community...

Not to worry

BigF,

I know where you are and trust me I've been there. You arent doing anything wrong, whats happening is that people select a specific file to download and you happen to be on that list of hosts as well because at the time your file was on the list. The person who wanted to download the file went on vacation or didn't run their gnutella program for a week or so. When they jump back on and run their program your ip is one of those it jumps to first. Not to worry though bud, it happens. Thats why I wanted a refresh option to clear that up, its just real hard for a single program to fix all that in one shot for millions of gnutella users :) For more than a week a single file I no longer shared kept popping up on my upload list. If its a popular file it will take a while for it to file through. Just sit back and wait, it'll clear itself out.
