Try the other options listed in the link Only A Hobo left. Trying the 1st one & stopping there if it doesn't work will not get you anywhere. There's a large list of things to try. Also, re: Java, there's more than one Java you can reinstall to see if that fixes things because the overall java installation is made up of many parts & installations.
