Default common problem, but no answer.

- one bar
- brick wall
- not the firewall
- might be router firewall but not sure how to check that

my limewire worked for about 2 months, then we added another computer to my router and it stopped. i uninstalled it. and after 2 weeks i installed it again, it worked for 3 hours and then went back to one bar.
any ideas?

thank you.

Common problem - yep. No answer - have you even tried the fixes in the sticky threads at the top of this section?

If nothing there helps, post back here with your system details (the ones that the forum rules tell you to post).

Thanks for your details

Try the fixes in this sticky thread (stickies are threads marked in red, at the top of each forum section & they have answers to many common problems): If LW Will Not Connect

Can you find the model of your Airlink (will probably be some letters, followed by a number eg AR325W)? If nothing's showing on top, have a look underneath.

Who is your ISP (which company do you/your family pay for your internet)?

When you set up port forwarding, did you make sure to set up a static IP address first? If you didn't do the port forwarding, ask whoever did it Have a look through these instructions, there's a link in there to static IP setup: Port Forwarding for the Airlink 101 AR525W

Make sure that LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router's config are all the same number.

If your router supports UPnP (check the router manual), you could try enabling that within the router's config & then choosing the UPnP option within LW's tools > options > advanced > firewall.

I guess you tried all the fixes in that 'if LW will not conect' thread? After you deleted the preferences folder, did you have to go through LW's setup wizard all over again?

Yes, you can keep FrostWire if you want to...it's pretty much the same as LW & connects to the same network

Before you uninstall LW, just check where your downloads are saved. Tools > options > saving will show you where they're stored. Then you can move files into the FW saved folder if you need/want to.
I haven't used FW for ages, so I'm not sure if the saving locations are the same for both apps...it used to be the same but that might've changed.
