I've been told to download Java to use limewire, is this free? and why do I have to have it?

You can download java here for free: http://www.java.com/en/download If you don't have Java installed (if you are running windows you more than likely have some version of java), then you are missing out on a lot on the internet. You do not have to have it, but it sure makes life a lot nicer!

LimeWire is written in JAVA. The JAVA runtime envrionment is required to use LimeWire (on windoze). It is free and you can find it here. Good luck.
