A few weeks back I tried running limewire (which up to this point worked fine), and recieved an error message regarding invalid/corrupted files. It suggested reinstalling the program, so I uninstalled Java and Limewire and then re-downloaded them. When I tried to run Limewire I recieved the same error message.

I don't know if it helps but the following is an excerpt from the message that I thought might be useful.

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.io.IOException: settings dir not writable

Try the fixes in this thread and make sure you use the offline installers for Java and limewire...
Unistall old version of Java first and then re-install the offline version...
Then delete your preference folder and then re-install LW using the offline version...Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should
