Moderators

There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving.
Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity)
Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum.
Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules.
Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted.
Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender.
Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration.

The Rules

1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences.

2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated.

3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum.

4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks.

5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive.

6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator.

7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required.

8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning.

9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning.

10. Posts should have descriptive subjects. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents.

11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick.

12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit.

13. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.

Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis.

Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community.

To my knowledge it gets cleared every time you turn of Limewire. Not 100% sure though.

I recommend using either an old Limewire version without BitTorrent support or Phex for Gnutella, Azureus is BitTorrent. None of this Limewire Gnutellatorrent hybrid crap.

Doubt that there would be as many users if they were tracked and logged while using it

Default Upload problems i think ?

Hi all,,
Ok ill try to explain my question best i can ,,,,all my files are in the right place, my friends trying to download a file from me, direct connections wont work on my pc cos of my router and firewall (to much to change all the settings) anyway i changed the file to something unusual as to not get so many searches come up on her pc , but when she types in the file name she doesnt get it come up in her list to download, but i can see under my monitor tag that its been searched ,,, does anyone know y this is ? ,,,

This also happens with other files i have i see that people are searching for them ( under the monitor tag ) but they never get uploaded ,, i have been over all my settings a number of times ,, 50% to uploads blahdy blah everything seems right ?

Is it possible that my files are not being seen,,,

Uploads tag always sits on 0/0 and the location tag varies ?

Could be that she has set Limewire to only show 4 star results.

If you are behind a router and firewall that's not properly configured, you will be a 2 or 1 star result

You can change this under tools>options>searching to show all results.

You really should consider configuring your connection though. Direct connect is a real + in Limewire

If you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface then it means you have a firewall problem. Only "a few" people would be able to upload from you using a Push technique, but even that doesn't always work depending on the firewall scenario. 1st, only have one software firewall active. Then enable LW for this firewall; Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

If you're running a high-speed modem/router then there's an extreme chance it will have an internal NAT firewall. If it supports UPnP then simply enable UPnP on the device. You'd need to telnet into the device to do that. Else, if it doesn't support UPnP then port forward. So it might sound like a lot of work at 1st look, but it doesn't really take that long to do & is worth it in the long-run. See the UPnP section in part 2 of 1st post here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

Dash double-posted huh!? I was about to edit in, the best way to share files to friends is using magnet links; How to use Magnet Links & Direct Connect. But being properly firewall configured greatly helps in this regard. BTW to make files easily findable is to use the description function or the id3 tag options in your audio programs. Describe option can be applied to different types of files. These tags make the file easier to find in searches.

"If" UPnP is enabled in your connection device (for some it is by default) then LW automatically communicates with the device to open whatever port is wanted. LW's FAQ has instructions on FW configuration, problem is there's so many different types of software firewalls, so you need to do those ones yourself.

After connecting Limewire go to tools>options>bug reports and press example bugreport. Then scroll down to "recieved incoming this session". If it says "true" then everything is good.

If it says false then there is still work to do.

it says FALSE , Ok ill shut down ZA to see if its that if not it must be my router right?

Right i re-checked everything, made a mistake on my router settings and it is now set to upnp enabled,(with the belkin G router this is disabled by default) ,,, tried it still the same,, so as i said above i i then shut down my ZA and it now show TRUE ,,, ill go through my ZA settings again but javaw.exe is definatly active and all ticked apart from email ? (we dont need this ticked right?) is there anyother settings in ZA anyone might know of that could be stopping this ?

Ill also try updateing my ZA then going through the set up again and see if it picks up limewire !!!!!
