| I have just upgraded from Limewire to Limewire Pro. After much stuffing around (Pro wouldn't work until I manually removed Limewire) I can't get any search results. On the left hand bottom corner it says starting connection but the globe next to it has a wall in front of it. I have configured it to work around my firewall and even tried disabling my firewall temporarily. When I do a search a box comes up that says "limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected" but it never finishes connecting so I get zero search results. Can anyone help?? |

| Try reinstalling Java. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java before you install the newer version. Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 Next, delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 below (also point 2 if you've used much older versions of LW in the past...there could be a folder in both locations). Fixes for LimeWire This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through & reset things afterwards That might be all it takes...it's always a good idea to delete that prefs folder after updating or upgrading LW. If you still have probs, double check that your XP firewall is off & see if this link helps for configuring McAfee. Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center Also this one. Choose your firewall from the dropdown menu on the left & then choose configuration/features. McAfeeHelp Technical Support

| Ok!! After an entire day of fiddling around with it, I have got the firewall off the earth symbol. Now I can do good searches and dowload songs but videos just keep saying "awaiting sources". I have a turbo connection. Last edited by frillnecklizard : May 16th, 2007 at 07:03 AM. |

| If you have already fooled around too much with your lime wire and Java and firewall i recommend the following: 1) reset back your firewall to original, meaning make not exception and out the "check mark" back next you limewire box in the advanced section of your firewall setting 2) completely remove Java and Limewire from using the 'add/remove program' feature in the control panel 3) reinstall limewire from limewire's original website, this will automatically install the Java as well 4) once limewire is installed, open the program 5) click on Tools 6) click on options 7) Scroll all the way down and click on "advanced" 8) Click on "firewall Config" 9) Select the "Do Nothing" option over "UpnP" and click on apply and ok, 10) you will get strong connection all of sudden and the Limewire will configure itself 11) close Limewire, and reopen it 12) Go back to tools, options, advanced, firewall config 13) Switch back to "UpnP " option and apply Voila..problem Solved happy Downloading |
