Default SHARE, don't be tight. If you dont want to share then don't download.

I share 30gb of my music, programs, and movies 24/7. I only download when I want something, however I let others download from me ALL THE TIME 24/7 to the tune of between 1000mb and 6000mb EVERY DAY! I plan on adding another 100gb of file storage next month just so that I can store more for others to download. I challenge others to do the same. P.S. I am poor and can barely pay my rent and bills. The only reason I am doing this is to propogate file sharing as a whole. I believe that it allows poor people access to books, programs, music, and other information that helps people better themselves.

I too have little money to spend on bonus items like software and music. That's the reason I got into this file sharing thing. I have a small hard drive but I do share 2 gigs of software that I hope people will continue to share if they download. If I had any money I too would get the biggest hard drive I could get and share everything I have on CD's too, but I don't, so my humble stash will have to do.

Cool

don't be too quick to judge people.

I have to limit sharing, simply because Telenet, the network I'm on, limits uploads to 2GB a month. If one doesn't comply, you get to be banned to smallband.

sometimes there are people who approach me in an aggressive way when I'm not sharing anymore, usually when the end of the month is near... I'm sick of explaining time after time.

Default Agreed. Leave yr computer on at night.

So the rest of the world can download while you sleep.
I mean, it's not like you're doing anything with it, right?

I personally got all the Sopranos and make sure they're
available to the next downloader.

Also, put something in the file name if the file sux
like Sopranos - Fun House (poor quality) so people
don't spend a long time downloading a poor quality
file unless they want to.

It only works if we make it work!

Exclamation PowerNeeds

My machine's live around'a clock with 100+ GB share (DSL).
I'm constantly (trying to) DL and UL all the time,
well that's my small P2P contribution.

I'm well aware that the energy (a neat couple of Watts)
required to *fish* adds the bill with another 10$ per month.

Are you?

Exclamation Excuses, Shmexcuses

You big sharers are my gods! I'm sharing my puny 10 gigs at the moment and adding another 30 gig drive for my small contribution...and up' more than I down'. But tell me this doesn't burn your ***:
The machine can be on 24/7 with say 20 requests; for a full day, I'm lucky at times to get 2-3 partial d/l's---naturally though, it's upping constantly. So it can take weeks (even with DSL) to down' a large rare file. Add to that the following scenario: I'm lucky enough to connect to a 850MB file---one instance available only; I manage to get 50%-425MB then the user decides not to share the file for 7-10 days for whatever reason. During that time I share that partial with 10 other users, before my original guy comes back on. So now 10 others having the same 425MB, are competing with me to complete the D/L. Too bad, 'cause if I could have completed mine, we'd have 2 complete instances of the file to share not to mention the fact that when it's a popular file I'll copy it and share it from another machine...Anyway, this is a rant forum, right?

Thumbs up I AGREE 100%

But 4 me, I have my PC on line during my flat rate hours 8PM/6AM on my ISDN 64Kb modem.

I have lots of small programs that I have downloaded using mainly Xolox ready for other people to share.

If the "poor" Unregistered could Email me, I am looking for a program!!!

Keep Up!!
