There may be a couple of bugs in LimeWire that may cause excessive CPU utilization. However, it shouldn't be consistently re-occurring. Either restarting, killing all downloads or sharing less files should always solve the problem.

On my 800Mhz Athlon Thunderbird, LimeWire uses less than 10% CPU (unless it is running in ultrapeer mode, which causes it to go up to 20%).
