I'll try to explain a little further:
1)your download bandwidth= the connection yo u are paying for. It's not just the type (Cable, DSL, Modem, etc). The bandwidth is the two numbers that indicate the maximum download/upload "speed". For example, a Cable/DSL connection will be like 1024/256 or 2048/512. (all in Kbps) The first number is the download bandwidth.

2)the number of hosts you are dlding from= when you are dlding a file with LW it will indicate in one of the columns in the Downloads window how many users you are downloading this file from (for example, it might say: "Downloading from 4 users")

3)their upload bandwidth= just like 1), except this time what is important is the second number after the /. Also, this time it's not your upload bandwidth but the bandwidth of the users you are downloading from.

4)the number of simultaneous uploads they have going on= when the amount of users that are downloading from a single person increases, the upload bandwidth that person can give to each individual decreases (not the total upload bandwidth). In other words, if my upload bandwidth is 100KB and I have 100 uploads, all the users that downloading from me will get a speed of 1KBps.

-the number of separate downloads you have going on= the number of files showing up in the Downloads window. The ones that are important here are the ones downloading and the ones trying to connect. Your download bandwidth will be shared between them, so less will be available for each download= each download will be slower.
