Go to Start -> Control Panel
Open Network Connections.
Right Click on the connection you use to connect to the network
Choose Properties
Go to the Advanced Tab
If your Firewalled is Enabled go to step 8
If you want to enable Windows XP Firewall check the box (this will enable the "settings" button. If you are not interested in enabling your Windows XP Firewall, hit cancel -- LimeWire will not be affected.
Under Windows Firewall Options, Go to the Advanced Tab.
Select Internet connection used. (Local area network or the name of your connection)
Hit the Setting Button.
Hit the "Add..." button.
In the description field add "Gnutella"
Set the IP address to "127.0.0.1"
Check the TCP Radio button
Set the external and internal ports to 6346
Hit OK
Repeat steps 9 to 13, except this time check the UDP radio button in step 12.
Make sure the list of services has two items listed Gnutella, and make sure they are both checked.
Click Ok
ZONE ALARM:
Simple instructions:

If you have Zone Alarm installed and try to run LimeWire, Zone Alarm will pop up an item saying "Do you want javaw.exe to access the Internet?"

Choose Yes. There is an option to allow this program to always access the Internet. LimeWire does not recommend checking this box, since this would allow any java program to access the Internet.

Next you will be shown another popup asking "Do you want javaw.exe to act as a server?"

Choose Yes. There is an option to allow this program to always access the Internet. LimeWire does not recommend checking this box, since this would allow any java program to act as a server on the Internet.

Advanced instructions:
If you have been using Zone Alarm for a while and have not been able to get LimeWire to connect to the Internet, you may need to change some settings withing Zone Alarm:
Start Zone Alarm Control Center
Go to Program Contol tab
Choose the Prorgams Tab
Make sure that javaw.exe row has either checks or question marks in the access and server columns. If there is a red cross in these columns click on the box and choose "Ask". Choosing "Allow" will also work, but this will allow all programs running on Java access to the Internet -- which is not recommended by LimeWire.

Gracias.
