It is hard to tell by the information you entered A little more information is needed then maby somebody can help.

O/S Windows 98/2000/XP
CPU Intel P4/AMD2300+ and ghz
Memory 256/512
LimeWire Version 4.8.1/4.8.9
Java Version 1.5.0
connection type Dial-up /Cable
what other applications are running in the background you can find this out by bringing up the task manager hold down ctrl+alt then hit delete click on processes it will tell you what is running in the background and how much mem is being used. The link below has some good tips for seting up LimeWire and trouble shooting if they dont work then provide the above info and if anyone can help they will try. Just click on the link
