Yep wmv files are the worst ones but sometimes it happens with some other types. My suggestion would be to play them with VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) instead of QuickTime player.
Filtering out wmv files is wise for mac users!
Don't forget Movie download issues
