branhamkatina there's a number of things you need to consider. For a start, whether your set-top dvd player has the ability to play DVD-/+R disks.
Also, some dvd burners & some set-top players are sensitive to brand of dvd media. Some won't play certain brands or some burners won't burn well with some brands.
Nero & Roxio both can burn dvd's & both will do the necessary conversion from avi to mpeg2 by themselves before they actually burn the disk.
I often burn dvd's but I use mac & there's different programs involved compared to windows. But I do have the mac version of Roxio & my version has no problems burning dvd's & they play fine on my set-top player.
