Default Speed

Joe-e & Lord of the Rings

I have a one meg ADSL link but my connection speed is only 576 kps, from that I get a download speed using LWPro from 1kps to 65 kps. However, at one time I got a speed burst for less than a second of 200+ kps.

Simply put, just because you have high-speed broadband that does not mean you will get high speeds on all occasions. There are a limited number of things you can do to increase your broadband speed, such as following your ISP instructions on connection configurations, e.g. MTU settings, upgrading your modem’s software, make sure that all other internet applications are closed, e.g. email, browser, etc.

You must also remember that your download speed is also dependant on how fast the client PCs you are connected to can upload and where in the world they reside, if their connections are slow your download speed will be slow.

Hope this helps
