What's shared on the gnutella network is between people like you & I. The files are not stored on a server, unlike some p2p networks which is what has wound them up in court.

I repeat, start with LW Basic 1st, sort any possible issues out whilst you're setting up & learning to use it, & then if you feel confident, consider using the pro version. Yes the LW pro version connects to 5 peers instead of 3 compared to LW Basic. That will give you better connection, search & downld results. But, you need to become accustom to using LW 1st before anything else. Learn the tricks of the trade so to speak.

Other issues I'll give you links to. Some of these issue are fairly recent & I have suspicions as to their source. Also some precautions & general hints here to help with your use of LW:

1. Influx of Porn recently being Spammed on Network - How to Stop it returning in your search results

2. autogenerated spam results

3. Organisations trying to connect via Port 6346

4. What you should know about WMA/WMV Files

5. (a) Configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

(b) Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If false then you have a firewall issue either due to a software firewall, router/modem with a NAT firewall or you isp.

6. See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help: To continue files downlding (click on link)

7. See How to Share Folders (click on link)

* Remember LW is free so make the most of it. After some time if you get back for your efforts of learning some tips, then consider supporting the people who make it work, the LW programming team.
