Hmmm don't know which flavor of windows you are using or service pack.

But If it is windowsXP sp2 it has a firewall, and I'm not sure if you have another firewall besides that. It's not good to run 2 firewalls at the same time. They have a tendency to conflict with each other.

Also when you did allow access did you allow access for both TCP and UDP both. This sometimes causes a similar problem.
