I’ve never thought about it, for mp3s, I always open it from the saved folder using iTunes. Then if it is ok. I move it to my music folder, which I share. I keep both "shared", "incomplete", "music" in my tool bar (10.1.1).

For mpgs I just check at the shared level for duplications with different names etc. and leave only the good.
