Default WMP and LimeWire cross compatibility

OK, so say I have some of my OWN music on a cd, and I want to share it with LimeWire. The only way I know how to get my music off my CD is to use Windows Media Player to use the "copy from CD" option. That uploads my files off my CD as WMA files. How do I get those out of the playlist in WMP and into a NORMAL windows folder to allow sharing of them through LimeWire?

It seems to me that anything I upload off a CD with WMP stays in WMP, and I can't seem to find where WMP stores the files to share the folder on LimeWire.

Does that make any sense? Or is there a way to upload files off a CD other than via Windows Media Player? I realize windows stuff is generally junk, but I don't know what other way to do it.

And is there any way to copy them off the CD as MP3 files rather than WMA files? WMA kinda sux. Ahh, I'm such a stupid newbie...

Help.
