Check out http://www.afterdawn.com . They have a great information database for transferring video clips, whether it's home movies from a digital camcorder or something else, to CD (VCD & SVCD) and DVD. There's a whole process that you have to go through to accomplish what you're trying to do. It's not as simple as just "burning a video file". Plus, plan on taking a better part of your day to do this too. It's all explained on the site.

After arriving at the site, click on the tab at the top of the page entitled "Guides" and take a look around to find the topic that's right for your needs.
