Excuse my next sentence for a lack of a better one: This guy doesnt know what the hell he is talking about.

To set you straight. The Administrator account on WinXP only has a few more security features on the computer that allow you to read other account files. Now the real stupidity comes when you run the program under root in unix/linux. You are exposing yourself indefinately since there are no beariers between root and the entire system.

And I must say, you gave VERY WELL instructions to have people run LimeWire as an Administrator. Even though you said yourself that it was dangerous. Why? (I might suggest that a moderator remove those instructions, or remove this thread entirely.)

To tell you the truth, ALL WinXP accounts are basically the same. I can STILL access the registry if im a limited account user. The registry on windows is like the root account in *nix.

You are right, however, when you say that the internet is not 100% safe. But what really is?

penguin_powered, cute and funny name assuming that you are using the WinXP SP2 Firewall. (I thought you would have known better if you were a hardened linux user.)

LimeWire does not have any servers on Gnutella that allow you to connect. LimeWire does, however, run UHC's that ALLOW you to connect to Gnutella. But technically, you NEVER connect to a UHC, even if you are contacting it.

There are no apparent security vulnerabilities with limewire. The only known vulnerability in limewire was fixed long ago.

You also assume that the RIAA is cracking into peoples computers. That is absolute hearsay. The RIAA is NOT immune to the laws in which it resides. Their incompetence precedes them. They couldn't even crack a peanut open if they had a nut-cracker.

You also said that LimeWire doesnt mention anything about firewalls. Well... why should they? Its not their computers, nor is it their responsibility. Its the end-users responsibility. The world would be better if we assumed people wanted to learn for themselves. Then we wouldnt have to have a FAQ now, would we? This isn't to say that they should'nt have a faq. I actually agree with it. I'm just fed up with stupidity. I would like to see alittle more learning than immediacy, and more direction than instruction, please.

Some negative sentiment intended. And please do not answer any of the above rhetorical questions.

However, you may answer me this one question: What is your motive, if not to scare people into stopping of the use of LimeWire?

Thank you.

I also advise people not to post in this thread. Let this thread die. The guy is just going after the hype and he has already received his 15 seconds of lame fame.
