I'd be interested to know exactly what "useless" functions you're refering to. iTunes is certainly not the best player out there. I notice mediamonkey is a commercial program which costs US $19.95 +. The free version only burns at 4 x speed. There's no Unlimited MP3 encoding. ie: the free mediamonkey version is rather limited. Whereas iTunes is totally free.

In the above scenario it could be easily sorted if you both logged into separate user accounts. Then both your downloads would go into separate user locations.
