I've made the changes and then looked to see what happened... And changing the settings options didn't make any difference on the CPU load, instead removing some files worked!
p.s.: I've found a way to count the number of files:

$ du -ha dir | wc -l
and the number of files i removed was 12971!
This is somehow ironic, since gnutella is for sharing!
