AaronWalkhouse is a great assister to others; your light through the dark tunnel

There are several possibilities:
  • You may have accidentally dragged the speed throttle down.
It's the little arrow pointer below the speed graph in the top right corner.

  • You may have set an Advanced Limit in Setup/Connection and forgot about it.

  • You're trying to download a fake. Hit the plus sign beside the filename and
look at the list of sources. Right-click on the column headers and enable the
GUID, Host and Version columns. Fake farms usually are large collections of
LimeWire servents, and some of those guys are so lazy they use the same
GUID for all of them. Don't forget to always check any large downloads with
Bitzi before you start the download.

  • Your cable company may be choking off the speeds on purpose. Cable
companies are uniformly notorious in contempt of their customers.

  • The "secret" remote control on download speeds may be in effect today.
BearFlix is a crippled version of the original BearShare anyway.
See this thread for details and the solution: Sticky: BearShare has been sabotaged.
