Seems that you have some sort of asociation problem, so what you have to do is get windows to associate *.pps with Powerpoint (see my screen print below).
All you have to do is, from Windows Explorer, goto:
Tools >> Folder Options and, when the pop-up box appears, click on the "File Types" tab.
