Default AVG Anti-Virus Installation Mystery

Kas

After cleaning your HD and making sure that there are no remnants of AVG's AV remaining and you still can't perform a fresh install of your chosen AV then, I believe, there is not much more you can do.

As far as I can see, from what you have said so far, you only have two choices:

1) Do a complete reformat of your HD and reinstall your applications one by one. This will insure that whatever hidden problem is on your HD will be deleted by the reformating.

2) Choose another AV to install, it is likely that whatever is preventing AVG's AV from being installed is unlikely to target another AV as well.

Of the two choices installing another free AV is the easier.

Good Luck
