Lightbulb GnuTella Cue?

I was just on the KaZaa network (shame, shame, I know, but not sharing & with KaZaa Lite)....

And suddenly it struck me.
When you download something on Fasttrack, you're added to a download cue on the server machine....

That's a lot different than on the Gnutella network where the server is just 'busy'.
When you encounter a 'busy' server the client searches other servers and checks back in every 30 - 60 secs.

Doesn't that generate a lot of extra network traffic?
And isn't extra network traffic a bad thing?

My Idea is to have a cue on the server where the client ads itself on and then when there is an upload slot availible, the server gives a "I'm ready, here you have your file' message.
And if you've allready finished your download before the other servers can help you, the client just sends out a 'plz get me (with $this_file) off your cue.

How's that for a 5 sec. Idea?
