Default Ghost Firewall

I am using Limewire (of course) and I need to Direct Connect to my brother who also has the latest version of Limewire. Neither one of us has upgraded to pro. He has wedding pictures that he wants to share and alternatively, I have new baby pictures to give. My problem is that the program insists that I have a firewall keeping me from direct connected to another computer. I know what you're going to say first. Have you turned off the windows firewall and any other firewall that you might have running. I'll do you one better, I've turned off EVERYTHING except the bare minimum that will allow me to surf the internet by using msconfig and services.msc to confirm. When I start Limewire I still get the damn brick wall in front of the globe. It's really starting to get personal. I would like to know what I am doing wrong, or where I'm not looking and ultimately how to get rid of that damn phantom firewall, because I can't even create a share files folder using msn IM at this point. Someone, anyone help me out on this issue. Thanks for listening/reading whatever.
