because I have spent nearly two weeks trying to get my son's Vista Home Premium PC to connect to the Internet via my Thomson ST585(v6) wireless modem.

Now today, without any intervention from me the Vista PC has an Internet connection.

I will admit that I worked on the PC yesterday but made matters worse, the Vista PC went from "being able to see the modem" to "not being able to see the modem". I also tinkered with the modem changing a detail on my son's registered info, i.e. from "Desktop PC" to "Generic Device". but that is it.

Now, the (Vista PC) thing is working perfectly and I don't know how and, at this moment, can offer no rational explanation as to why it works.

Any logical explanation will be gratefully received.
