In Vista you have to right-click both programs, go to Properties and set both to run in XP
compatibility mode and to run as an administrator.

The best solution overall, of course, is to dump Vista and reinstall XP (Xp Pro if possible),
because Vista is still a DRM crippled kludge on top of parts of of Server 2003 with a lot of new
bugs and vulnerabilities added in. You'kll find that XP is still faster and more reliable even
after they released Service Pack One to fix the first huge batch of bugs.
