LCH is flying high
Default Connection problem - sorry to be a pain

I appear to be having a firewall problem - apologies if this is already covered elsewhere. Can anybody help?

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account.
Windows XP

2. What firewalls you have?

AVG Firewall 7.5.500 - On
Windows firewall - Off

3. How much ram?

When I look in My Computer/Properties, it says “1.73 GHz, 0.99 GB of RAM”. I don’t understand how that can be right if I’ve got 54.6 GB of free space. Sorry, I must have done something wrong.

4. Hard Disk space available?

54.6 GB

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)

ADSL (I think that’s right)

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

Inventel Livebox B7E8

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?

House

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Limewire 4.14.12
Java 1.6.0_03

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

France Telecom/Orange

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

“Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

No

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

Using since July 2006. Changed Firewall in July 2007 and ISP in September 2007 with no subsequent problems. Limewire stopped working in November 2007.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
_ click here to see Sample image
Yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

I tried to enable UPnP, as advised here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connection-problems/51357-connection-problems-check-here-first.html.
but for some reason, the Residential Gateway icon doesn’t appear after I go into Networking Services and select UPnP User Interface.

I have also, as far as I can tell, correctly followed the instructions for port forwarding as advised on the same page.

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall

AVG 7.5 – I’ve added an exception for Limewire.

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the
USA & also in Ireland).
France

I have also tried to follow the instructions given here: http://wiki.limewire.org/index.php?title=User_Cant_Connect#Still_Can.27t_Co nnect.3F
but got a bit stuck at this section - Adding An Exception For The Gnutella Port. I can’t find where to do this in AVG.
Sorry if I’ve been a bit vague. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lauren
